To get started at CrossFit Kinnick, you need to schedule your Free 30 Minute Consult. A CrossFit Certified Trainer will give you an introduction to the CrossFit Methodology, explain the program options available at CrossFit Kinnick, and discuss your health and fitness goals with you. They will be able to recommend a starting path to you that is appropriate for your fitness experience and goals.

During a normal group class at CrossFit Kinnick, an experienced CrossFit Certified Trainer will teach you the proper form for a few basic CrossFit movements as part of our bodyweight warm-up.  They will also lead you through progressions for the movements used in that day’s Workout.  Before the WOD (“Workout of the Day”) begins, a Trainer will adjust the movements, weights, and reps to be appropriate for your current fitness level.

Many of our new members have never worked out consistently before, and we are very experienced with helping new members get accustomed to the CrossFit protocol.

Step 2: Private Training Sessions

If you have not done CrossFit before, you will most likely need to do a few personal training sessions before starting group classes to learn the basic movements used in CrossFit. During your 30 minute consult, your trainer will let you know how many sessions you’ll likely need depending on your background and experience. We offer 30 minute private sessions that just include instruction and 60 minute sessions that also will include a CrossFit workout programmed for you personally by your trainer. These sessions will ensure that you will have a safe and enjoyable transition into regular CrossFit classes.

Step 3: Choose a Membership Package

If you decide to become a member of CrossFit Kinnick, you can sign up for one of our monthly Group Training Packages. We offer packages of 2 classes per week, 3 classes per week, and 5 classes per week.

Ideally, coming to 5 classes per week will give you the best results, but we understand that schedules and work/family demands can sometimes make that impossible. For those of you falling into that category, we encourage you to sign up for as many days as you can reasonably commit to.  If you are consistent you will see good results with 2 or 3 classes a week.

If you are just starting to get back in shape, we recommend starting with 2 or 3 classes per week. In a couple of months, you can increase your classes per week if you would like. You can upgrade your plan at any time.
