Phil got his Blue Shirt!!!

If you’re wondering why Phil is grinning from ear to ear, you’re not alone. The reason for his excitement is he just got his Blue Shirt!  Congratulations are in order!  Ok, the real reason he has the cheesy grin and the thumbs up is because I made him do it. But nonetheless, he just finished up the Basic Level and received his Blue Shirt.

The story behind the Levels is to give people goals and a way to test yourself against overall fitness.  I want to encourage all of you, if you have not completed your Basic Level and received your shirt, to get after it.  Ask one of the trainers if you have any questions.  The lists are on the wall below the corresponding shirt.  Check it out and get started on it.  We allow you to arrive early to class and stay late.  I know you are all social butterflies and love spreading your wings but take a few minutes each day and tackle a task or 2 and get closer to receiving your shirt!  Phil was extremely motivated to get his shirt so he can wear it in the 2nd Crossfit Kinnick Fun Run!!

First Female Muscle Up!

If you have seen Beth around the gym you know how tough she is. Quiet and reserved saving all her energy for the workouts where she regularly beats most people, men and women. She is a tough chick! After a few days of working on her false grip pull ups she gave the muscle up a shot again and got it! This video is her second Muscle up because we just had to get it on video. Great Job Beth!!! You are doing great. Keep working hard. So, we have 4 or 5 women at the gym who are so close to getting their first muscle up. My question is who is next?

The Dan Chronicles Part 4

Our friendly neighborhood swordsmen Dan Thompson is at it again. This video is from the middle of September as Dan is finishing up some work on a newly learned skill, Push Jerk. Since then Dan has been diligently working on his flexibility and depth in the squat as well as his explosiveness due to the extra work he is putting in before and after class. He is making great progress and as of his last weigh in, November 5th, Dan is down 22#’s of fat in less than 3 months!! Great work! Consistency is the key and if you ask Dan that’s exactly what he will tell you. Let’s step back and take a look at the big picture. Sometimes starting new things such as a workout regimen (Crossfit) or a new way of eating can be overwhelming. Have your goal in the back of your mind while you focus on today, on what you WILL do today to get one step closer. Before you know it you will be reaching and surpassing your goals. Keep up the great work everyone!!! Lets show Dan some love in the Comments.

Blanca Kelley - Ripped Flexing 2

We have some amazing female athletes at our gym. Blanca is one of them!  Here is Blanca showing off both sides of herself.  The fun outgoing side and the strong Crossfit woman side! Look at those guns and that 6-pack!!! Oh and dont forget that smile ear to ear.  You better believe shes happy with her results!  Incredible!!  Its been 1 year since giving birth to her beautiful daughter Solena and she is stronger, faster, and more powerful than ever before.  After having her baby she was at 33% body fat which is expected after giving birth.  12 months later she is about 20% body fat, as you can tell in the picture!  She is an amazing athlete cranking out pull ups, push ups, ring dips, and working on muscle ups and handstand push ups!  This is what happens when you are consistent and work hard.  If you ask her what her secret is she will more than gladly tell you.  ”Crossfit and Zone, theres no secret pill to get these results.  Just hard work and consistency.”  Great job Blanca!  You’re an inspiration to us all.  Also, just so you guys know. Blanca is married with a child, a full time job, and she is an Army Reservist.  If she can make time to eat right and get in the gym 4-5 times a week then anyone can.  Keep up the great work Blanca!!!

The Dan Chronicles Part 3

3 weeks after his first day at Crossfit Kinnick. He revisits his first workout, Helen, and compares the two very different experiences. Also, some questions about functionality and how Crossfit is helping him accomplish things he wouldn’t have be able to do prior to starting.
