Another Open gone means another year of CrossFit Kinnick success. While we are overjoyed with the turn-out and the effort by each of our members at this year’s CrossFit Games Open, there are a few special congratulations in order.
First, Josh Pollema finished 6th place in the Southern California region! He very nearly beat Dan Bailey, last year’s 4th place CrossFit Games finisher. It’s a feat he should be incredibly proud of. We certainly are. Along the way Josh racked up 3 top 10 finishes, his best a 5th place finish on workout 16.3 (Power Snatches & Bar Muscle-ups). What makes Josh’s performance even more amazing is that he’s coming off of a knee surgery less than 6 months ago. Did I mention his performances earned him 74th place overall in the world?? The dude’s an animal, his work ethic is second to none, and now he’s booked a ticket to the California Regional in May.
Next, Tori Dow finished first place in the Southern California region for the Teenage Girls 14-15 division. She is CFK’s first 1st place finisher in any phase of the CrossFit Games season…ever. That’s an impressive feat people. Just how dominant were Tori’s performances? She had three 1st place finishes and two 2nd place finishes. There were only 5 workouts. Let that sink in for a bit. Oh yeah, and she placed 7th in the world overall! Tori is now moving on to the 2016 CrossFit Games!
Last, but certainly not least, the Kinnick team has booked yet another spot at the California Regional with a 6th place finish in Southern California. They earned 3 top 10 finishes along the way. CFK is coming off of a CrossFit Games appearance at the 2015 CrossFit Games and will be looking to put together another strong showing at this year’s Regional competition.
The California Regional will be taking place May 13-15 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Get your tickets here.
The teens will be competing at the CrossFit Games in Carson, Ca between July 19-July 21.
