Lift Up Autism WOD, Fundraiser and Potluck
On Saturday, September 19, CrossFit Kinnick will be hosting a very special event dear to our hearts. Lift Up Autism is an event/fundraiser that supports early diagnosis and treatment of Autism. The funds raised go to the Autism Tree Project Foundation in San Diego, and most importantly, turn a global spotlight on the measured and severe impact of Autism on families and individuals around the world. Odds are you at least know someone affected by Autism.
The global CrossFit community will be performing a workout called “Luke”, inspired by CrossFit OG Josh Everett’s son, Luke, who was diagnosed with Autism. The fundraiser is not for Luke specifically, but for the “Lukes of the world” who struggle to deal with the day-to-day challenges of autism. The workout can be found below:
5 MIN AMRAP
4 Power Cleans (155 lbs / 105 lbs)
24 Double Unders
The entire Saturday schedule will be different – group classes will be closed, but the Upland gym will be open starting at 9:30am. We will be running heats for the workout from 10am-12pm. We will have the website set up for donations at the box, or you can visit www.liftupautism.com to donate ahead of time!
Stick around for the potluck afterwards, too! CFK will be providing some of the meat, but we’ll be looking for additional protein, carb, and fat items to share. So bring your most delicious paleo-friendly dishes and let’s get our grub on!
