5 weeks and 6 workouts later, CrossFit Kinnick has successfully qualified a team and 2 individuals for the California Regionals in May.
Congratulations to Jeremy Kinnick and Nick Robles on finishing inside of the top 20 men in the Southern California region. Jeremy will be vying for his 5th CrossFit Games appearance. For Nick, it’ll be his first time competing at the Regional level as an individual.
Meanwhile, this is beginning to become a habit for the CrossFit Kinnick team. 2015 is the third straight year now that CFK has finished in the top 5 of the CrossFit Games Open. The team will be looking to book a place at the Games for the first time ever. The last 2 Regional appearances have ended in heartbreak with 4th and 5th place finishes. The old Regional format only took the top 3 teams from each region to the CrossFit Games. The new changes for this year have expanded that number to 5.
Let’s not also forget about the CFK Masters athletes. John Allaire (Masters Men 55-59), Patty Kinnick (Masters Women 60+), and Tamara Friday (Masters Women 55-59) all finished inside of the top 200 in their worldwide age groups. That’s earned them the right to participate in the online Masters Regional. More information on when and how that will be taking place coming soon.
The California Regionals are a 3-day event the weekend of May 22-24 in Del Mar. Come down and support your fellow CFK athletes. It’s sure to be an exciting weekend. Buy your tickets here.
