So here is what you all have been waiting for. The details for the Zone Challenge. We are all extremely pumped up about this Challenge and encourage everyone to get involved and participate. Together we can make some huge changes in our lives. No one is a loser in this Challenge. Let’s start 2011 off on the right foot and stay strong!!
The Zone Challenge will last 8 weeks, starting January 10th, 2011 and ending March 11th, 2011. You will have from January 3rd until January 15th to get weighed in, measured, and have a “before” photo taken. The final weigh in, measurements, and “after” photo will take place from March 1st – March 11th. We will take 2 photos when we do your weigh in, a Front View and a Side View. Its up to you to wear what you feel appropriate or comfortable for the Photo. I recommend that all the guys take off their shirts and all the women to take their pictures in just a sports bra. This way we will see the most change possible and give you the best chance of winning.
The challenge is based on 3 criteria. 1. The Photos 2. Body Composition – meaning body fat lost & muscle gained. 3. Performance Improvement – meaning we will be doing a couple workouts at the beginning of the challenge and at the end. Each individual involved in the Challenge will be allowed 1 vote for the men and 1 vote for the women. You must vote for someone other than yourself. Only individuals involved in the Challenge can vote. Be sure to base your votes based on all 3 criteria named above. We will allow 1 weigh in & measurement half way through the challenge. Otherwise we highly recommend that you stay off the scale. The scale will only tell you how much you weigh. It wont tell you how much fat you have lost or how much muscle you have gained. So remember, STAY OFF THE SCALE!
The buy-in for the Challenge is $10. The Top 3 Men and Top 3 Women with the most votes will receive prizes. The prizes we have for the winners are CASH, Gift Cards, Brand New Crossfit Kinnick shirts/gear, Free Haircuts, and much more! Maybe even some Fish oil, Pure Whey Protein, and/or Paleo Kits.
On the right side of this page you will see a link to a downloadable PDF titled “HOW SHOULD I EAT?” I encourage everyone to download and print out that file as a guide for the Zone Challenge, if you don’t have it already. That is basically your Zone Map. Your trainers are here to help each and every one of you with any questions regarding the Zone. Please don’t hesitate in asking us. We are here to help you meet all your goals. As many of you may know, I have been Zoning strictly for over 2 years with great success. The key to my success and others who follow the Zone is preparation, planning ahead and having a meal plan. Stay hydrated by consuming half your bodyweight in ounces. I weigh 200# so I drink 100 ounces of water daily. Also, if you aren’t doing so already make sure you are taking your fish oil. Whether its pills or the liquid that we provide at the gym. You should be taking between 3.5grams of epa/dha to 5grams. For the liquid thats equivalent to 2 or 3 teaspoons a day. For most pills that around 12-17 pills daily. This will assist in fat loss not to mention so many other health benefits and muscle/joint recovery.
We are requiring all participants in the Challenge to log weekly 1 full day of eating. This way we can take a look at how you all are doing and if there are any issues we can help you fix them. If you follow the Zone and continue to come to the gym I guarantee more amazing results than you could have ever dreamed of. We do the Zone because it Works. Plain and Simple. Do yourself a favor and dive in and give it 8 weeks and see what happens. You have nothing to lose but FAT and everything to gain with performance and health. Be sure to get to class early to give us plenty of time to get everything done. Did I mention I am PUMPED! WARNING: Lives will be changed and clothes will become loose.
