2010 Crossfit Games @ The Home Depot Center

This weekend, July 16th, 17th, and 18th, our very own John Allaire will be competing at the 2010 Crossfit Games held at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California.  This is a huge achievement for John.  We are very proud of him for his consistent hard work and dedication to becoming a healthier and more fit person.  Through his hard work and dedication to the Crossfit Methodology and his relentless appetite for continued improvement he has found himself, by no surprise to all of us at Crossfit Kinnick, in a position to battle this weekend for the title The Fittest Man over 50!!! John is competing in the Masters Division this year.  There will also be the Women Masters Division, Affiliate Team, and Individual Men & Women competition going on simultaneously.  Come out and support the entire Crossfit Community!

John is not only an amazing athlete but also a great guy to be around, just ask anyone at the gym.  John needs all of our support this weekend at The Home Depot Center as he goes to war against the Fittest Men in the world!  If you do not have tickets for the event this weekend, here are some links to follow.  You have a couple options.  You can purchase the 3-Day ticket for $75 plus addition fees through Ticketmaster HERE or if you cannot make the entire weekend you can purchase a single day ticket for $30 plus additional fees through Ticketmaster HERE.  You can also buy tickets at the Home Depot Box Office the day of the event.  I do not have the details for that though.  If you are unable to attend the Games this weekend the event will be streamed LIVE online at live.crossfit.com.  Due to the Crossfit Games we will be closed July 16th, 17th, and 18th.  Go out and run, squat, jump, and do some push ups!!!  If you have any questions let me know.  Let’s show John some love!  We will all be yelling for you John!

    Crossfit Kinnick,

I was at the 2010 CF Games this weekend and witnessed your guy John Allaire for both of Fridays Master’s Division wods. His determination and raw effort were inspiring! I turned 52 on Saturady 7-17 and have been training at Crossfit Vacaville North since Feb. 1 of this year. Happened to be at the fence in front of him and surrounded by folks from your box during the dead lift..AWESOME !! This absolutly solidified my believe that this level of fitness can be pursuded by the 50 and over crowd. Thanks to all the youngsters that show us the way. Your people were so supportive during his effort and John took the time to chat a lttle with me just minutes after the wod. Great job CF Kinnick!!Had to leave for home Sunday morning so Im not sure where John ended up in the standings, but his effort was # 1 in my book. You guys Rock!

    Doug,

Thank you for the kind comments. It was my pleasure talking with you and many other fellow crossfitters during an amazing weekend. It was truly a great experience. I did finish 8th overall, with PR’s in both the deadlift on Friday and Fran on Sunday. I can easily say that at 51, I am in the best shape of my life.

None of that would have been possible without the great support of the awesome trainers, the CF Kinnick family and of course my family who tolerates my training schedule. Crossfit is an amazing community. At the Crossfit Games, you feel the support for your friends and family in attendance, your fellow athletes, the members of your gym that could not be in attendance and of course people like yourself that came out to support all of us.

I am sorry that you missed Sunday. It was a real highlight of the weekend. Nothing can compare to walking down the tunnel at the Home Depot Center and being cheered by such elite athletes as Peter Egyed, Moe Kelsey and Mikko Salo. Not to mention Coach Burgener himself. The you enter the stadium with thousands of people cheering as you are about to meet the nastiest four letter word in Crossfit- FRAN. If all of that doesn’t get you your blood flowing, I don’t know what will. It was also an honor to have Todd Widman as my judge in the final event. I cannot think of a more positive and supportive individual and an outstanding judge all at the same time. I know he truly wanted me to perform my best and encouraged me throughout the entire workout. It was amazing. As my coach, Jeremy Kinnick, told me many times over the weekend; how can you not PR at the Crossfit Games?

Overall, I think the Masters men and women proved that there really is no age limit to fitness and competition. I was proud to be a small part of it. I would encourage anyone to try and compete. It is an incredible experience, and hopefully CF HQ will continue to support the Masters divisions.

According to my loving family, I am the 8th fittest old fart in the World. I’ll take that title for now. We’ll see about next year.

Thanks again to everyone for their kind comments and support.

And yes, CF Kinnick does rock!

I had to read your post twice to get the full meaning of it. I appreciate reading what you have to say. It’s unfortunate that more people do not comprehend the benefits of coaching. Keep up the good work.

Very interesting blog post. Your article is extremely interesting. I enjoyed this blog post. This post is excellent! I have to say that after continually reading bad as in, same old material, little quality content, etc. blog posts on other sites, it’s nice to actually read something that has some thought put into it. It’s a pleasure to read well written blog posts, especially after continually seeing rehashed %$!# that writers and bloggers are throwing out nowadays. It’s always nice when I come across content that actually has value, I’ve been seeing a ton of subpar writing attempts lately. Anyhow, thanks again and I’ll check back frequently to see what else you have to offer. I’ll check back in the future to see what else you have up your sleeve. Keep up the fantastic work! BTW, I like your site design, but your header image was only loading half way for me. P.S. Your header is messed up a bit in IE. The problem could be on my end but I thought you might want to look into that.
