Run and Squat

Monday, July 14th, 2008

From CrossFit Journal #2, entitled “What is Fitness“.  If you haven’t read it yet, now’s the time:

“A theoretical hierarchy exists for the development of an athlete. It starts with nutrition and moves to metabolic conditioning, gymnastics, weightlifting, and finally sport. This hierarchy largely reflects foundational dependence, skill, and to some degree, time ordering of development. The logical flow is from molecular foundations, cardiovascular sufficiency, body control, external object control, and ultimately mastery and application. This model has greatest utility in analyzing athletes’ shortcomings or difficulties.”

Notice that Nutrition forms the foundation of the Pyramid.  Without proper nutrition, all the other physical components will suffer.

Today’s Workout:

Four rounds for time of:
Run 400 meters
50 Squats

Post time to comments.

Heart, Intensity, Desire

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

I once read somewhere that “Who you are in CrossFit is who you are in life.” CrossFit gives you the rare opportunity to find out what you’re really made of. When you dig deep, what do you find?
