From CrossFit Journal #2, entitled “What is Fitness“. If you haven’t read it yet, now’s the time:
“A theoretical hierarchy exists for the development of an athlete. It starts with nutrition and moves to metabolic conditioning, gymnastics, weightlifting, and finally sport. This hierarchy largely reflects foundational dependence, skill, and to some degree, time ordering of development. The logical flow is from molecular foundations, cardiovascular sufficiency, body control, external object control, and ultimately mastery and application. This model has greatest utility in analyzing athletes’ shortcomings or difficulties.”
Notice that Nutrition forms the foundation of the Pyramid. Without proper nutrition, all the other physical components will suffer.
Today’s Workout:
Four rounds for time of:
Run 400 meters
50 Squats
Post time to comments.

I hate this workout.
running after squats = lead jelly legs.
and a few words of wisdom:
eat breakfast before you come in the morning.
Good read – always wondered where “Tabata” came from. I think this definitely gives a little help in trying to explain what exactly CrossFit is to the confused masses.

eating right before = bad.
Just a little heads up… I wasnt eating zone consistently prior to the games, I would sometimes but would mess up other times. Since I have been back from the games I have been very strict with my nutrition and have been following the zone. When I got back from the games I weighed in at 204# and this morning as I weighed myself I am 197#. My body fat is just over 12% and I will keep you posted on futher developments…
Kudos to our athletes who did 5 rounds… Does that mean they have more heart or that I messed up? Good Job everyone!
